We Do Not Know Whereabouts of Suspended REC – INEC

According to an announcement made on Friday by Festus Okoye, the spokesman for the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC), the suspended Adamawa State Resident Electoral Commissioner (REC), Hudu Yunusa-Ari, is currently missing and his whereabouts are unknown to the Commission. Okoye stated that despite the Commission’s efforts to summon Yunusa-Ari to appear at its headquarters, he failed to do so and ignored phone calls from the Commission.

While the INEC is unable to declare Yunusa-Ari wanted, as it is the Nigeria Police Force’s responsibility to do so, the Commission has requested that the Inspector-General of Police, Usman Akali Baba, investigate the suspended REC for possible prosecution. In addition, INEC has written to the Secretary to the Government of the Federation (SGF), Boss Mustapha, to inform President Muhammadu Buhari of Yunusa-Ari’s alleged wrongdoing and potentially review his appointment.
