8yr-Old Girl Tests Positive for HIV after Mother’s Lover R@pes Her

A woman and her 8-year-old daughter, whose identities were not disclosed, have tested positive for HIV.

This follows an alleged rape of the minor by her mother’s boyfriend, Jude Chinedu, also known as Ijiegbe, at their home in Alegbor Community, Uvwie LGA of Delta State.

Sources familiar with the matter stated that the suspect, a married man, has fled the area, leaving behind the victims to bear the brunt of his actions. The incident was reported to human rights activist Comrade Kelvin Ejumudo, who immediately informed the Ebrumede Police Division.

Following their medical examination, the girl was found to have contracted HIV, which was also detected in her mother. The police and Comrade Ejumudo are currently searching for the suspect, who reportedly narrowly escaped arrest on Thursday.

Efforts to reach the Delta State Police Public Relations Officer, DSP Bright Edafe, for comments on the incident, have been unsuccessful as he has not responded to a WhatsApp message sent since Monday.
