World Record: Why Hilda Baci May Wait For 12 Weeks to be Recognized by Guinness

Nigerian chef Hilda Baci has made history by completing a marathon cooking session lasting 100 hours, securing the prestigious Guinness World Record for the ‘longest cooking time’ by an individual cook, however she may wait another 12 weeks for her record to be affirmed.

Beginning her culinary journey at 4 pm on Thursday, May 11, Hilda tirelessly cooked until 4 pm on Monday, successfully reaching her ambitious goal of 100 hours. Earlier on Monday morning, she had already surpassed the previous record held by Indian chef Lata Tandon, marking a significant achievement in itself.

Originally aiming for a 96-hour cooking marathon, the Akwa-Ibom-born chef pushed herself further and extended her efforts by an additional four hours, ultimately setting a new world record at 100 hours. Hilda commenced her remarkable feat by turning on her cooker at 4 pm Nigerian time on Thursday.

During the four-day marathon, the 27-year-old chef showcased her expertise in Nigerian cuisines, crafting over 110 delicious meals that represented the rich culinary heritage of her country.

Following her outstanding accomplishment, Hilda’s record-breaking achievement will undergo a thorough review by the Guinness World Records management. This meticulous assessment is part of the second stage of the application process, where the evidence submitted by the chef will be scrutinized. The duration of this review period varies depending on the type of application, and it may take up to 12 weeks for the documentation to be thoroughly evaluated and a final decision to be reached.

Once Hilda’s evidence is approved, she will be officially inducted into the illustrious Guinness World Records book, joining a distinguished list of Nigerians who have achieved remarkable milestones across various categories.

According to the Guinness World Records website, the evidence review stage is a crucial step following a record attempt. It involves the submission of supporting documentation for assessment, after which the record applicant will be notified if their attempt has been accepted as the new record holder or rejected.

Hilda Baci’s incredible endurance and passion for cooking have not only earned her a well-deserved place in culinary history but have also served as a testament to the human spirit of perseverance and determination.
