Prince Harry and Meghan Escape Near Catastrophic Car Crash in Paparazzi Chase

Prince Harry and Meghan Markle Escaped Serious Accident Amidst Paparazzi Chase in New York

On Tuesday, Britain’s Prince Harry and his wife, Meghan Markle, narrowly avoided a disastrous car crash in New York City, as they were pursued by paparazzi. Meghan’s mother, Doria Ragland, was also involved in the incident, which occurred shortly after their attendance at an award ceremony in the American city.

In a statement released on Wednesday, a spokesperson for Prince Harry expressed concern over the relentless pursuit by the paparazzi, which lasted for over two hours. The pursuit resulted in multiple near collisions with other vehicles, pedestrians, and even two NYPD officers. The spokesperson emphasized that while being public figures attracts public interest, it should never compromise anyone’s safety. The statement further criticized the dissemination of images obtained through such invasive practices, emphasizing the dangers involved.

The event in New York marked Meghan’s first public appearance since her absence from the recent Coronation of King Charles III and Queen Camilla. She had chosen to stay in America with her and Harry’s two children. The trio had attended the 50th-anniversary gala event of the Ms Foundation for Women, which honored grantee partners and visionary leaders dedicated to promoting the organization’s mission of advancing women, girls, and gender-expansive people’s collective power, safety, and equity.

During the gala, Meghan was honored with the Women of Vision Award from the Ms Foundation, recognizing her global advocacy and empowerment efforts on behalf of women and girls. The prestigious award was presented to her by renowned journalist and feminist activist Gloria Steinem.

It is worth noting that the trio had opted to stay at a private residence to ensure the security of their friend’s home. This precaution was taken to avoid compromising their safety, considering the tragic fate that befell Harry’s mother, Princess Diana, in 1997. Princess Diana lost her life in a high-speed chase while trying to evade paparazzi photographers in Paris. A subsequent investigation by the London Metropolitan Police revealed that Diana’s driver was intoxicated and attempting to escape the paparazzi before the fatal accident.

The Duke of Sussex has openly written about his struggles with grief following his mother’s untimely death in his bestselling memoir, “Spare.” In a poignant tribute, Harry had requested that the driver of his car pass through the tunnel in Paris where his mother tragically lost her life, prior to attending the 2007 Rugby World Cup semi-final when he was 23 years old.
