Oyo PDP Chieftain, Dare Adeleke, has strongly denied the accuracy of a recent news report claiming that Chief Bode George, one of the party’s founding fathers, expressed his willingness to work for President Tinubu if called upon.
A prominent Nigerian newspaper had earlier published an article on Friday, stating that Chief Bode George made remarks suggesting his readiness to serve, citing his military background and sense of duty. However, in a telephone conversation with our reporter, Adeleke vehemently dismissed the news story as a fabrication from the journalist’s imagination.
Adeleke expressed his astonishment at the state of journalism, stating, “I am amazed at the direction journalism is taking. Chief Bode George never granted any such interview, let alone made such baseless statements. This is a complete falsehood, concocted by a mischievous journalist.”
Continuing his argument, Adeleke highlighted Chief Bode George’s distinguished record within the PDP, emphasizing that he served as a governor of the old Ondo State when he was just 42years old, even before President Tinubu even entered Nigerian politics. He pointed out that Chief Bode George held other high-ranking positions, such as Chairman of the Nigerian Ports Authority (NPA), where he served Nigeria with distinction. Adeleke stressed that Chief Bode George has never been known for frivolous remarks or disloyalty.
“We must not forget that he was the first National Deputy Chairman of the PDP. Throughout the years of the APC’s reign, Chief Bode George stood as a formidable opposition and never wavered,” Adeleke emphasized. He insisted that the false narrative was concocted by political adversaries aiming to undermine Chief Bode George’s credibility.
Adeleke further cited Chief Bode George’s public statement, where he expressed his willingness to acknowledge Tinubu as the President if the tribunal declared him so. He questioned the origin of the writer’s lies and urged Nigerians to completely disregard the report.
In conclusion, Adeleke advised the public to treat the news article as entirely baseless and unfounded.
