FCTA Announces Approval of N7bn for Teachers Salary

Dr. Danlami Hayyo, the Secretary for Education in the Federal Capital Territory Administration, has announced the approval of N7 billion to address overdue salary arrears for teachers in public primary schools, covering 25% of the total amount owed.

During a visit to the FCT Universal Basic Education Board in Abuja, Hayyo confirmed that the FCTA will contribute 40% of the arrears, while the remaining 60% will be covered by the Area Councils.

Hayyo emphasized a three-month timeline for the payment, with funds to be deducted at the source and remitted accordingly.

The purpose of the visit was to explore collaboration between the secretariat and the Board to fulfill educational mandates.

Expressing gratitude for the Board’s financial backing, Hayyo pledged to utilize resources from UBEC and UBEB to address ongoing challenges.
