The Nigerian government has unveiled plans for a groundbreaking 1,000km highway stretching from the coastal town of Badagry to the northwest city of Sokoto. According to reports from Arise News, Minister of Works, David Umahi, revealed that President Bola Tinubu has mandated the initiation of design work for the project. “We’ve started the design, and I’m very sure that as soon as the Federal Executive Council approves it, we will be starting at Sokoto side, which is going to be the zero point,” Umahi stated. This announcement comes amid ongoing efforts to enhance infrastructure, including the inspection of the 700km Lagos-Calabar highway, signaling a significant stride towards connectivity and development in Nigeria.
