Poverty Alleviation: Government to Give N75,000 Each to 70 million Nigerians

The Federal Government has finalized plans to distribute N75,000 each to 70 million Nigerians as part of efforts to alleviate economic hardship in the country.

In a statement released on Sunday, Hon. Aliyu Audu, Senior Special Assistant to the President on Public Affairs, emphasized that the initiative reflects President Bola Ahmed Tinubu’s commitment to combating poverty and improving the nation’s economic well-being.

Audu, who also serves as the convener of the APC National Stakeholders Forum and APC Rebirth Movement, highlighted Tinubu’s significant achievements in just 19 months of leadership, noting the administration’s bold economic policies that have attracted substantial foreign portfolio investments.

He further pointed out that Nigeria’s debt obligations are being fulfilled to maintain the country’s global financial credibility. According to Audu, foreign reserves grew by 23 percent, bringing in $7.69 billion in one year due to effective monetary and fiscal strategies by the Central Bank of Nigeria and the Federal Government.

The statement also credited improved fiscal performance to enhanced oil production and robust non-oil sector activities, supported by the CBN’s interest rate management, which boosted foreign exchange inflows.

At the state and local government levels, Audu observed a surge in federation allocations, with some states witnessing a threefold increase, facilitating prompt payments to local contractors. He also cited enhanced security, allowing farmers better access to their lands, which has contributed to falling food prices.

Audu commended the administration’s agricultural reforms, including the delivery of 255 tractors to modernize farming practices and boost food production. He expressed optimism about impending food surpluses.

The statement further praised the government for recovering $52.88 million in looted funds from the United States. Audu urged APC members to intensify efforts in engaging with citizens to promote Tinubu’s people-focused policies as the administration approaches its two-year mark on May 29, 2025.
