A coalition of indigenous youth organisations in Plateau State has defended the ongoing security operations of the Department of State Services (DSS), Mobile Police Force and Operation Rainbow, alleging a campaign to discredit the agencies and frustrate efforts to restore peace in the state.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The coalition, comprising youth groups from Berom, Irigwe, Tarok, Afizere, Anaguta and other ethnic nationalities, made its position known at a press conference at the National Secretariat of the Nigeria Union of Journalists (NUJ), FCT Council, Abuja, on Wednesday.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The group was reacting to a petition dated October 5, 2026, reportedly submitted by the Plateau chapters of the Miyetti Allah Cattle Breeders Association of Nigeria (MACBAN), Gan Allah Fulani Development Association of Nigeria (GAFDAN), Fulbe Youth Development Association (FUYODA) and other organisations.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The petitioners allegedly accused security agencies of biased operations against Fulani communities and linked the DSS to killings, abductions and attacks on cattle.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Rejecting the allegations, the coalition described the petition and a related social media video as attempts to undermine security operations and influence Federal Government decisions.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u201cWe smell a rat in the ongoing campaign of calumny orchestrated against the person of the Director, Operations of the DSS, the Mobile Police Force and the Plateau State security outfit, Operation Rainbow,\u201d the coalition said.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Led by Amb. Ezekiel Peter Bini, the group alleged that the joint operations had yielded significant results, including the arrest of suspected armed-group leaders and a reduction in attacks on communities and destruction of crops.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

It cited alleged attacks on security personnel, including the killing of two DSS operatives in Tanjol and Tarai villages on August 23, 2026, as well as the reported killing of DSP David Babale, an Operations Officer of Operation Rainbow.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The coalition also called for an investigation into allegations of misconduct and possible collusion between any security personnel and armed groups, insisting that accountability should apply to all agencies.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

It further alleged that about N20 million was being raised to finance media campaigns and legal actions aimed at frustrating security operations, although it did not provide independent evidence to substantiate the claim.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The group urged President Bola Tinubu and other Federal authorities not to discontinue lawful security operations or remove Plateau State DSS Director, Mr Paul Damian, in response to pressure from interested parties.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u201cPlateau State cannot afford to have its security operations weakened by ploys and strategies of manipulation. The protection of innocent lives must take precedence over every personal, organisational or political interest,\u201d the statement said.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The coalition reiterated its support for the protection of vulnerable communities and called for sustained collaboration among security agencies, local vigilantes and residents.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
