The inaugural edition of the Honda Captain’s Squash League Series ended on a high note at the Squash Section of the Lagos Country Club after five days of intense competition and camaraderie among members.

The maiden tournament, sponsored by Honda Nigeria, was held from April 27 to May 1, 2026, attracting over 36 participants in what organisers described as a highly competitive and successful first edition.

Speaking at the grand finale on Friday, Chairman of the Squash Section, Sesan Asani, said the competition was designed to strengthen unity among members while raising the standard of squash within the club.

“Our mission is to encourage the spirit of healthy competition, foster unity, build team spirit and improve the standard of the game of squash within the Section,” Asani said.

Managing Director of Honda Nigeria, Daisuke Mita, expressed delight at the turnout and the level of performance displayed throughout the tournament.

“We are impressed by the turnout of members and the quality of play witnessed during the competition,” Mita said. “It resonates strongly with Honda’s brand promise of top-quality performance.”

He assured members of the company’s commitment to sustaining the partnership and hinted at an even bigger edition next year.

Also speaking, Head of Sales, Marketing and Logistics at Honda Nigeria, Remi Adams, described the tournament as a rewarding experience for the brand.

Adams said the company was eager to deepen collaboration with the executive committee of the Squash Section in ways that would further promote the Honda brand among its target audience.

The successful staging of the competition is already raising expectations for a larger and more competitive second edition in 2027.
