The General Overseer of the Redeemed Christian Church of God (RCCG), Pastor Enoch Adeboye, has urged the Federal Government to give Nigeria’s security chiefs a 90-day ultimatum to eliminate terrorists across the country or vacate their positions.
Adeboye made the call in a video shared on X on Tuesday, expressing concern over the worsening security situation and stressing the need for decisive action against perpetrators of violence.
According to the cleric, security chiefs must be held accountable for delivering tangible results in the fight against terrorism.
“If I were asked to make suggestions, I would say quietly to our government, ‘Move fast and tell our security chiefs, get rid of these terrorists within 90 days or resign,’” he said.
He further urged the government to target not only terrorists but also individuals and groups providing financial and logistical support to them.
“When giving orders to the service chiefs this time around, we should make it clear to them that they are not only to eliminate the terrorists; they should eliminate their sponsors, no matter how influential they may be,” Adeboye added.
The revered cleric recalled making a similar recommendation to a former Nigerian president, noting that although an ultimatum was issued at the time, it was not fully enforced after the deadline expired.
He said the experience highlighted the importance of political will and strict implementation of directives aimed at ending insecurity.
Adeboye’s comments come amid renewed concerns over terrorism, banditry and kidnapping across several parts of Nigeria, with many Nigerians calling for stronger and more effective measures to address the country’s security challenges.
