The has dismissed as false a viral video alleging an ongoing terrorist attack in Abuja, assuring residents of the Federal Capital Territory (FCT) that no such incident occurred.
In a statement issued on Friday, the Force described the video as “entirely false, misleading, and malicious,” noting that it was deliberately fabricated to incite panic and undermine public confidence in the security system of the nation’s capital.

According to the police, preliminary investigations revealed that the footage used in the video was sourced from unrelated online materials and manipulated to create a false narrative of a security breach in Abuja.
The Force Public Relations Officer, DCP Anthony Okon Placid, said operatives have arrested one Pam Joseph in connection with the creation and circulation of the content. The arrest, he said, followed credible intelligence and digital forensic analysis linking the suspect to the misinformation.
Police authorities warned that while citizens have the right to freedom of expression, the deliberate spread of false information capable of causing fear and disrupting public order constitutes a serious offence.
The suspect remains in custody and is expected to be charged to court upon the conclusion of investigations.
The police further urged members of the public to verify information before sharing, stressing their commitment to monitoring digital platforms and taking decisive action against individuals who spread misinformation that could threaten national security.
