
The maiden edition of the Red-Streak National Under-19 Invitational Squash Tournament delivered thrills, emerging talents and strong participation as it served off at the Squash Section of the Lagos Country Club from April 15 to 17, 2026.
Sponsored by Red-Streak Nigeria Company Limited, makers of the popular health drink Lime Delight, the three-day event drew over 60 young players from across the country, alongside a vibrant turnout of club members for a side attraction dubbed the “Rumble.”
Every participant left with branded souvenirs and refreshments, adding a festive touch to a competition that combined grassroots development with high-level play.
The Rumble, staged ahead of the U-19 finals, saw more than 30 club players compete in one of the section’s largest turnouts in recent times. Onemena Ikpikpini emerged champion, while Squash Section Chairman Sesan Asani claimed the “most played games” prize.

In the main U-19 event, rising stars showcased their promise. In the boys’ category, Quadri Yusuf (Lagos/JHSF) clinched the title after a commanding run, with Friday Daniel (Headwaters) finishing runner-up. Elisha Daniel (Lagos) and Ayomide Omotayo (Ogun) settled for joint third place.
The girls’ division saw Awawu Balogun (Ogun/LU) emerge champion, ahead of Aishat Abdulraheem (Kwara), while Zainab Ishola (Lagos) and Grace Gana (Kwara) shared third place honors.

Chairman of Red-Streak Nigeria, Semoore Badejo, hailed the tournament’s success and emphasized its developmental focus.
“The turnout has been impressive for a maiden edition. We must catch them young. With regular competitions like this, Nigeria has the potential to produce world-class squash players,” Badejo said.
Asani also praised the sponsor’s commitment and expressed optimism about the tournament’s future.
“We appreciate Red-Streak for supporting this initiative. This is just the beginning, and we look forward to an even bigger and better edition next year,” he said.
The tournament marks a significant step in nurturing youth squash in Nigeria, blending competition, community engagement and a long-term vision for the sport.
