A chieftain of the (ADC) in Rivers State, Sunday Ohakwu, has alleged that there is an ongoing plot to arrest Chibuike Rotimi Amaechi, a leading presidential aspirant of the party.

Ohakwu claimed the alleged plan is designed to weaken the ADC’s readiness to challenge the ruling (APC) in the 2027 presidential election. He alleged that the move is being coordinated at the highest levels of government and could be executed at any moment unless there is a last-minute change.

According to him, recent weeks have seen a series of meetings culminating in the formation of a small committee tasked with finding “watertight” grounds to justify Amaechi’s arrest, detention, and prosecution. He alleged that anti-graft and security agencies, including the , the , and the , are being considered as vehicles for the action.

Ohakwu further alleged that investigative teams are scrutinising state records, financial accounts, and properties linked to Amaechi across Rivers State, Lagos State, and Abuja, in a bid to build a case that could lead to his arrest and trial. He added that Amaechi’s tenure as Minister of Transportation under the administration of former President is also under intense review.

He warned that any attempt to intimidate Amaechi or distract the ADC from the presidential contest would ultimately fail, insisting that the party remains resolute and focused on its 2027 ambition.
