Operatives of the (EFCC) have uncovered and dismantled a suspected internet fraud training hub in the Federal Capital Territory, arresting 31 individuals in a coordinated operation.

The raid, conducted on Thursday, April 9, 2026, took place at a facility located in Becki Estate, Karu, on the outskirts of . Authorities say the location was being used to train young recruits in cybercrime activities.

Among those apprehended were two suspected ringleaders, as well as several trainees who were reportedly caught during ongoing tutorial sessions.

Items recovered from the premises include multiple mobile phones, 18 laptops, and other electronic devices believed to have been used for fraudulent operations.

Preliminary investigations suggest that a number of the recruits were lured from with promises of legitimate employment. Instead, they were allegedly held within the facility, deprived of personal communication devices, and subjected to strict control.

Sources further indicate that the trainees were effectively cut off from the outside world and, in some cases, faced physical punishment for non-compliance, pointing to a highly coercive and abusive environment.

The EFCC has confirmed that all suspects will be charged to court upon the conclusion of ongoing investigations.
