Former Ekiti State governor, Ayo Fayose, on Tuesday held a closed-door meeting with the Olubadan of Ibadanland, as political tensions continue to simmer in Oyo State.
The brief meeting, which lasted about 30 minutes, took place at the monarch’s residence in Ibadan and comes against the backdrop of growing controversy involving the state government and the traditional institution.

Addressing journalists shortly before the meeting, Fayose said his visit was to demonstrate support for the traditional institution, hinting that more details surrounding the ongoing situation would soon emerge.
“I am in Ibadan to identify with the traditional institution. The truth about the whole saga will soon be revealed,” he stated.
The visit follows Fayose’s earlier claim that Oyo State Governor, Engr. Seyi Makinde, was plotting to dethrone the Olubadan, an allegation that has triggered widespread reactions across political and traditional circles.
However, both the Oyo State Government and the Olubadan’s palace have firmly dismissed the claim, describing it as baseless and insisting there is no rift between the governor and the monarch.
Fayose’s latest move is likely to further stir the political waters, even as stakeholders continue to downplay the controversy and call for calm.
